Slide Show

The Slide Show is a useful tool for engineer training purposes. Some thirty slides explain the main points on the design of a common fluidized bed. A number of photographs and numerical calculated velocity and concentration flow paths are given in example.

The slide show can be used in a fluidization course to explains in about two hours all the principles of the fluization science, i.e. :

  1. How to place tuyeres on a fluidization grid? What is the chalenge between the grid pressure drop (cost) and a well distributed gas for a uniform fluidization?
  2. There is a lot of correlations in the scientific literature for the calculation of bed voidage or bubble volume fraction. Why it is better to calculate bubble sizes first and to caculate the bed voidage from continuty equation (see bubbling) ?
  3. What are the basic concepts of "Carryover" phenomenon ?
  4. ........................

And a number of other questions that are analyzed in the Slide Show. For those who want to use these slides as a course support, we recommend strongly to alternate any of these questions with the corresponding topics of the "Foundry Sand Recovery" example of tutorial Case Study-1.
